Razer Copperhead Mouse
Seems to be set to release on the 22nd of August, at least that's what Gamespot says. It looks unbelievable and set at an unbelievable price point of $80. Is anyone on track to buy this thing? Is it worth it? The neon lights are sooo fascinating but the Diamondback might be a better deal at this point...
(Can't believe I made Citizen, I can't have been around the forum that much!)

I payed $50 for my MX520, and it does just what I need it to. Sure, the more DPI the better.. But I prefer me mouse as it is.

I'm getting one. I have the Diamondback now, and this mouse definitely improved my frag count in UT2004. The Copperhead will have 2000dpi, adjustable weights, and that cool blue lighting

I also have a Razer Diamondback - which has definitely helped my game. I'm gonna look up the Copperhead for sure.

I've tried both the Mx1000 and the Razer Diamondback - they're really like apples and oranges. If you happen to like the weight and bulk of the Mx1000 you'll never be able to stand the tiny Razer Diamondback, a $50 mouse with a cord !
The Copperhead is the new $80 version of the Diamondback. So what are you paying for? I'll tell you - you're paying for the fastest, most responsive and precise gaming mouse in existance, that's all. It's a fact - not just hype. On FPS games especially there's nothing like it. I don't need extra buttons or features in a mouse - I need one that tracks like it's reading my mind - and that's what this mouse seems to do (when you get used to it's light weight - intended to be moved with fingertips rather than the whole hand). The Razer is about as good as it gets. I'm getting the Copperhead as soon as it hits the shelves.
My Mx1000 is in the junkpile next to my old Logitech keyboard. It's not a bad mouse - it just can't do what the Razer does. You can criticize the appearance of the Razer all you want - but as long as it performs (and outperforms the Mx1000) I wouldn't care if it were the ugliest piece of junk on the planet (which it's not).

Eh..not a little biased are ye?
So Logitech has an optical mouse with variable weights and on fly sensitivity and great dpi
Razer has an optical mouse with variable weights and on fly sensitivity and great dpi
I guess I'll just have to go to CompUSA and try them both out
$80 mumble mumble $80 mumble
Stupid Microsoft optical mouse giving problems...

The MX1000 has a few shortcomings:
1) Its laser takes a while to re-aquire position when you lift the mouse off the table -- VERY BAD if you run out of mouse pad or table space
2) It still suffers from cordless latency. High speed FPS gamers still notice it (unfortunately, I'm one of them), and response time is often the difference between getting the frag vs. receiving the rail slug.
3) Its right-handed ergonomic design doesn't agree with left-handers.
On the plus side, the MX1000's ergonomic shape is much more comfortable for the average right-handed person. Unfortunately for me, all of the current Logitech gaming mice have a leading lower-right edge shape which actually hurts my right hand.
The Razer Diamondback's shape does take some getting used to. However, its low profile design is made for pure speed, not comfort. Its optical sensor never powers down, so it has no latency issues whatsoever.
I'll reserve judgement until I use the Copperhead, but based on Razer's previous gaming products, they have the odds in their favor over Logitech.
Here's a picture of my Diamondback...
And the Copperhead:

funny, my $10 walmart mouse doesnt have any problems going where i want it too, now i can see how the old ones with the ball that collects the lint off your desk then doesnt scroll sideways would be a problem, but i dont see how that $80 mouse would be any better then a normal fiber optic one, aside from the ground effects...

Fiber optic?? There are no fiber opics involved in optical mice, there is a LED and a camera and that's it. Detects changes in the surface below to sense motion.
Unless there is some obsure model with fibre optics for decoration (reminds me of the USB turd - no link since no one should have to see that monstrosity).

Ya, Fiber Optics are cameras. Only reason I know is because I saw a thing on the History Channel about technology of law enforcement. One of them was a Fiber Optics camera, a little snake like camera that could be put under a door and controled with an analog so you can get a good look around the place before you raid it.

myth busters is awsome and i tried watching the sniper thing but it was just so long. If it was the show where they recreate an old battle with animation i'd watch it
